Design and Analysis of SEPIC Converter for EV Battery Charging Applications with IoT Based Monitoring System

In this paper, control of energy management system (EMS) for Electric Vehicle (EV) battery charging is performed with photo voltaic (PV) based distribution generation (DG) system and monitored with the assistance of Internet over Things (IOT). The DG units along with batteries provides uninterrupted supply as the PV source is assisted with battery when shading occurs. The structure of supply or source are arranged in the following manner 1. Load and Battery supplied with PV (peak irradiation), 2. Load supplied with PV alone (medium irradiation) and 3. Load supplied with Battery (Lower irradiation). The proposed controller senses power generation by PV module and loading requirements under both all three modes and switches the devices accordingly. In this, the design of both topologies of dc-dc converters for battery charging and discharging is presented. The results of the proposed system is provided with PROTEUS software.
