Be My Eyes: An Aid for the Visually Impaired

The visually impaired face several difficulties in their daily lives which can be mitigated using technology. This paper proposes a three-part system that assists them in identifying people, locating obstacles and reading text. It allows the users to recognize their surroundings in real-time by providing vocal feedback. This approach is based on image processing and deep learning for detection. It does not rely on any external hardware and as a result, is feasible, practical and convenient.
