The Use of Virtual Idol in Sports Communication: The Example of Table Tennis Competition Broadcasting in the National University and College Athletic Games

VTuber is a virtual idol created by combining virtual technology and YouTuber, and using a physical motion capture system to manipulate the virtual idol with real movements, making it interactive and real-time, allowing the main audience and minority otaku to have an immersive emotional experience.In the past, attempts to combine virtual idols with journalism have often been time-consuming and costly. The Department of Radio and Television at Ming Chuan University has been in charge of broadcasting table tennis games for the National University and College Athletic Games for two years since 2021 and has a good understanding of the workflow. Therefore, on this basis, this thesis aims to clearly explain, through the preparation of pre-production, completed the integration of virtual idol and TV news video production in less than two hours with the operation of two to three people.
