IoT based Battery Storage Temperature Monitoring System

Improper battery operation can affect battery performance and lifetime. Higher storage room temperatures can result in reduced performance and battery expected life service. In addition, ambient temperature also affects the battery's ability to withstand ampere-hours (battery capacity). The battery storage room in Muara Karang power generation unit is an area of 60m² which store 2 battery banks. The battery in the power plant is used as a backup supply in blackout or loss of voltage. Therefore, an IoT-based battery room temperature monitoring system is needed to determine the condition of the battery and its compliance within standards. The monitoring system was developed using NODEMCU ESP8266 and DHT21 sensors. The temperature sensor read the battery room temperature. All measured parameters are then stored in a data logger system that can be accessed via the internet. The developed monitoring system has a high level of accuracy, fast response time and can be implemented in real plants.
