Practical Challenges in Design of Omnidirectional, Medium Distance, Device Agnostic Wireless Power Transfer System

In this paper, a novel omnidirectional wireless power transfer system is proposed. By having a centralized transmitter with an effective charging area where multiple receiver, can be placed limited by a distance of 10 cm. The transmitter utilizes a Class-E amplifier with a frequency of 6.78 MHz. In order to achieve omnidirectional flux with a limited power utilization, a switching matrix with edge-configurable coils has been proposed to achieve both horizontal and vertical flux. This paper deals with simulation, design and preliminary experimental testing of a Class-E amplifier based system with an output power of 15 W for device agnostic consumer electronics.
