Partial discharge behavior at the interface between solid and gaseous insulation

Phenomenology of a discharge involving solid insulation (epoxy) was investigated. This experiment offered the possibility to compare with the situation when only gaseous insulation (air, SF/sub 6/) had been involved. Results showed clearly that situational discrimination, i.e. telling apart two discharge situations and/or distinguishing particular discharge features occurring at the interface between solid and gaseous insulation could be realized successfully using the present methodology.
