Scope of EtherCAT Implementation and Various Slave Controller Type

EtherCAT stands for “Ethernet for Control & Automation Technology”. A protocol that can entertain capabilities of Ethernet like flexibility and power to the globe in the following areas such as industrial automation, motion control, real-time control system, data acquisition systems. The goal of this paper is to give an idea about various types of EtherCAT slave controller in accordance with the package type, manufacturer, usage, technical specifications. This paper broadly covers various fields where EtherCAT is successfully implemented and how it has improved existing communication system like in micro-grids, motion control, multi-motor axis control etc.
