Pre-synchronization Control Strategy of VSG Based on Power Compensation

Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) has attracted extensive attention for its similar moment of inertia and damping characteristics to the conventional synchronous generator (SG). In view of the large impulse current when switching from islanded to grid-connected operation, this paper proposes a pre-synchronization control strategy based on power compensation. The output voltage angle and amplitude of VSG are compensated by using the principle of traditional droop control, so as to track the angle and amplitude of the grid voltage and reduce the impulse current to realize smooth switching from islanded to grid-connected operation. Finally, the proposed control strategy is verified by simulation results in MATLAB /SIMULINK.
