Identification of Impedance Changes in Metal Using RFID RC522 Based on Arduino Uno

Identification of corrosion in the tool industry is very important because it minimizes the impacts and losses due to damage to the tools used. Although there is already a corrosion identifier, not all industries have this tool because of the high price and large size, making it difficult to carry around or use in confined spaces. Therefore, an effort was made to design a tool for “identification of impedance changes in metals using an Arduino Uno-based RFID RC522” which is relatively inexpensive and easy to carry. This corrosion identification tool uses RFID RC522 as a frequency transmitter to metal that has been affixed with an RFID tag, this tool uses a Vector Impedance Analyzer to show the impedance of the frequency of the signal being sent. From the impedance values obtained, we use the measurement of the corrosion rate with the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) method, which is used to determine the charge transfer resistance and the electrical double layer at the interface of the solution test material. The larger the impedance value, the lower the corrosion rate and vice versa. Based on the data analysis, the metal is corroded in the corrosion solution for 35 days and impedance data is taken every 1 week, the average value of impedance is decreasing.
