Average Rate Performance for Pairing Downlink NOMA Networks Schemes

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a technology that solves many problems in future wireless networks by providing a large number of communication capacities to the systems. The basic notion of pairing NOMA downlink networks is presented and proposed two schemes of NOMA pairing, first scheme near and far (NF) pairing and second scheme close - close or remote - remote (C-C, R-R) pairing. The objective of this paper is to measure and compare the average sum rate against signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of six users using two proposed techniques with single-carrier NOMA (SC-NOMA) and time-division multiple access (TDMA) respectively with different distances, using MATLAB simulation software program. The result shows that the achieved average sum rate is greater for a close user paired with a far user in the first scheme and the SC-NOMA performs poorly when compared with TDMA due to interference issues that arise when all users are overloaded on the same carrier.
