The Big Eye of Smart Lighting

This paper is intended as a first basic document of a more general white paper on smart lighting. Distributed Artificial Lighting systems penetrate into the internal and external human environment in a complete osmosis and with their smart interactive function practically become an all-seeing eye, a “big eye”, of human activities. Smart lighting indoor and more especially outdoor constitutes a mesh (“web”) that is able to detect, memorize, identify and communicate. Smart lighting included in an

system is extending its performances to multiple purposes in addition to the sole function of lighting, but safeguarding environmental lighting problems, safety, security and ethical-social impacts.
