Cross Layer Approach for Analysing the Performance of Mobile Ad hoc Networks

The goal of this work is to evaluate the performance of routing protocols for mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) in the presence of various rate control algorithms at the data link layer and to identify the optimal rate control algorithms (RCA) for enhancing efficiency or quality of service of mobile ad hoc networks. They are self-configuring networks that lack a fixed infrastructure structure, and routing is crucial to their operation. Rate control is a critical function of the data link layer, and rate control algorithms are responsible for optimizing performance by dynamically selecting rates depending on the conditions of the channel. In this paper, we proposed a cross-layer approach for optimizing the performance of MANETs. The following metrics like packet delivery ratio, throughput, goodput, and average end-to-end delay are used to assess the proposed approach.
