Power Conversion Efficiency Improvement of High Voltage Power Supply With SiC SBD Module

High voltage (HV) DC power supplies are widely used in industrial and medical field. Cockcroft-Walton (CW) voltage multiplier is generally used in HV DC power supplies due to high step-up ratio, low voltage stress on components and compactness. HV DC power supplies can be miniaturized by driving the system at high frequency (HF), where HV fast switching diode is necessary. This paper develops HV SiC SBD module for HF HV CW circuit. The switching behavior of SiC SBD module in CW circuit and its power conversion efficiency is experimentally evaluated and compared with conventional the HV Si PiN diode module.
