Women in the field of control systems

This article focuses on six women who made important contributions to the control systems field. For each, biographical data is provided, as well as a sketch of their research interests and accomplishments. All of these women had to make their way in a field dominated by men. They are: Irmgard Flugge-Lotz (1903-1974); Violet Haas (1928-1986); Faina M. Kirillova (b.1931); Makiko Nisio (b.1931); Huashu Qin; and Jane Cullum.
