Exploiting Link Diversity in IEEE 802.11 WLAN using OMNeT++

The growth in the wireless network is leading to the development of efficient WLAN enterprise that can achieve high level user requirements regarding the next generation wireless technology. Researchers always perform simulations and testbed experiments on a newly proposed mechanism before launching it on a large scale to avoid any kind of uncertainties. There are several network simulators such as, ns-3, OMNET++, OPNET, Click Modular Router etc., which are broadly used to exploit network performance or evaluating the performance of new network improvements. In this work, we simulate an IEEE 802.11 WLAN in INET framework with OMNET++, exploit the link diversity (uplink) WiFi Client and Access point (AP), and evaluate the network performance. The objective is to explore the behavior of a WLAN setup with OMNeT++, which is considered as our primary research of our proposed implementation: Multiple Uplink Mechanism to enhance the packet delivery ratio and throughput in a WLAN enterprise.
