IoT-based Electrical Safety Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis for Low-voltage Distribution Facilities

An electrical safety monitoring and fault diagnosis system is designed and developed based on the IoT architecture for the operation and inspection management of 0.4kV low-voltage distribution facilities. The electrical safety IoT sensing terminal unit and edge computing gateway are used to collect multi-dimensional operational parameters, complete in-place fault diagnosis for low-voltage circuit breakers, and transmit data to the IoT software platform through 4G/5G communication network. The platform application software implements real-time online monitoring, alarming, and operation evaluation. The system has been proven to be effective in identifying potential electrical safety hazards in low-voltage distribution facilities, providing a decision-making basis for the power supply operation and inspection department to handle faults and speed up the repair process.
