Research on Simplified Tuning of PSS Parameters of Pumped Storage Units Based on Digsilent Simulation Technology

With the advancement of the construction of new power systems, pumped storage units play an increasingly important role in the safe and stable operation of the power grid and the promotion of renewable energy consumption. The pumped storage unit is different from the ordinary generator set, and there are power generation conditions and pump conditions. The PSS parameter setting under different conditions is related to the safe and stable operation of the power system. This paper first analyzes the excitation operation mode of the pumped-storage unit, and draws the conclusion of the symmetry difference between the pumped-storage unit' s power generation and the pump condition based on the power angle stability analysis. Based on the symmetry difference of the angular stability analysis, it is concluded that the PSS parameters of the pumped-storage unit can be simplified under the two working conditions, which is beneficial to improve the PSS parameter setting efficiency of the pumped-storage unit.
