Research of Noise Interference with Pseudo-Random Phase Shift Keying

Modern trends in the transport systems development suggest an increasing use and combination of navigation and technical vision methods in driver assistance and autopilot systems. For all-weather systems, high-resolution airborne surveillance radar data is the basis for safe trajectory control. However, there are a number of problems associated with the joint operation of radars in open environment in a common frequency range. One of them is the possibility of creating interference and decoys with conventional or wideband SDR/USRP transceivers. The article considers one of the well-known methods of setting active interference to radar signals with arbitrary modulation. It is based on continuous receiving of the source radar signal, making changes (delay, phase, amplitude), and back retransmission of the generated jamming signal. This method refers to Digital Radio Frequency Memory (DRFM) technology, which is theoretically capable of creating these and even much more complex types of interference. But in this article, pseudo-random phase keying of one copy of a radar signal is used to create the noise structure of the jamming signal. The results of a hardware-in-the-loop experiment with pulse and FMCW altimeters are presented, showing the possibility and relevance of testing developed and ready-made radars and their signal processing algorithms for the possibility of correct and safe operation in conditions of such interference.
