Effects of various faults on Power Quality parameters in an isolated microgrid

This paper presents a comparison of different faults for analyzing the various power quality parameters at the mid of the distribution line. The microgrid is operating in islanded mode which is fed from solar based energy source. A battery bank is connected to the common bus of solar energy source and a three-phase IGBT-based inverter. The length of distribution line is considered as 1 km that is a class of short length transmission line. Various Matlab-Simulink blocks are used for the calculation of power quality parameters connected to isolated microgrid for the R-L load. The system is also tested without having the availability of solar irradiance. A simulation model of the proposed system is developed in Matlab-software environment. The results are presented for various conditions such as unavailability of solar irradiance, different types of faults like Line to ground, Line to line, Line to line to ground, Line to line to line, Line to line to line to ground and low state- of-charge of the battery unit.
