Monitoring and Remote Data Logging of Engine Operation via On Board Diagnostic Port

Engine operations are continuously monitored via sensors (oxygen, engine temperature, air flow, RPM); Such measurements are analog in nature and they are retrieved by electronic sensors, this analog data is sent to the Engine control unit. Inside the engine control unit this information is converted to digital format and further processing is done to have optimum efficiency from the engine. This information can be retrieved via OBD-II diagnostics protocol via a communication port provided inside the vehicle, which is nowadays the main diagnostics method used by technicians. real-time information can also be retrieved from the OBD protocol and they are connected with the vehicle activity. This real time information is not only useful for fault finding but it can be used for collecting various parameters related to operation of engine thus analyzing driving habits, preventive maintenance reminders, fleet management, supervision of assert and can be used by law enforcement when required. An embedded system and IoT-based method are developed using hardware and software. Proposed system is almost compatible(multi-protocol) with most of the engines, user friendly and connected on the internet.
