Methods of Periodic Complex Remote Measurement of Partial Discharge Characteristics in Highvoltage Insulators

Diagnostics of the state of high voltage insulators is an important direction in the electric power industry. In the last twenty years, a method for determining the technical condition of high voltage insulation by registering partial discharge (PD) parameters has been actively developed. Despite the active development, in Russia there is only GOST R 55191-2012 (IEC 60270:2010), which considers the measurement of PD by the contact (traditional) method of two main characteristics of individual PDs: the apparent charge (intensity) and the voltage of its occurrence. The problem today is the lack of regulatory documents for the development and calibration of remote non-destructive methods. Based on our own experiments and experiments of other scientists, methods for periodic complex remote measurement of PD characteristics were developed and proposed, including contact electrical and non-contact acoustic, electromagnetic and electro-optical methods.
