Skidding Process Research for a Four-Axle Shunter Electric Locomotive with a Traction Electric Drive "Frequency Converter - Asynchronous Drive"

For a four-axle electric locomotive, a mathematical description of the skidding process was performed with using the “Frequency Converter-Asynchronous Drive” (FC-AD) system. The article relevance lies in the possibility of using a computer model in the development and study of the asynchronous motors’ operation for the electric locomotive drive in various operating modes. The article purpose is to study skidding transient processes on a dynamic computer model of a traction asynchronous electric drive using the FC-AD system for a four-axle electric locomotive. The mathematical modeling methods in the Matlab Simulink environment, the main provisions of the electric drive theory, electric machines, the control systems theory are used. The developed electric drive computer model is tuned to the specific parameters of the traction motors, allows you to calculate transients in the FC-AD system, taking into account the gap selection in the coupling and skidding. The article develops differential equations of motion during skidding and mathematical models’ block diagrams that take into account the traction electric drive operation, taking into account various control and skidding systems of a four-axle electric locomotive.
