Research on EPS Control Strategy Based on BAS Algorithm

Aiming at the problems of slow response and poor stability of steering wheel output torque in EPS system, a control algorithm based on Beetle Antennae Search Algorithm (BAS) combined with conventional PID strategy is proposed to improve the steering performance of vehicle. Firstly, the kinematics characteristics of EPS are analyzed, and the overall model and BAS-PID controller model are designed in AMESim and Matlab/Simulink, respectively, the AMESim interface module is created to realize co-simulation. Secondly, BAS algorithm is used to adjust the parameters of PID controller, and the tuning problems of Kp, Ki and Kd are transformed into a class of parameter optimization problems in three-dimensional space. Finally, the absolute integral function of time and current error is used to evaluate the convergence of BAS algorithm. The experimental results of BAS-PID controller are compared with those of GA-PID and conventional Z-N tuning PID, respectively. The experimental data show that the BAS-PID controller is obviously superior to other controllers in the peak value, adjustment time and overshoot of steering wheel output torque and voltage output signal, and has good control effect, which provides a theoretical basis for the development of subsequent vehicle EPS system controller.
