Numerical Simulation Analysis of Jet Flow Field Characteristics of PDC Bits with Three Holes

Based on the traditional PDC drill bits, optimized and improved, there is no center nozzle, and the aperture of three oblique nozzles with an inclination of 20 0 is increased. Using the numerical simulation analysis method, and using the SST k-ω model, the characteristics of the jet flow field of the PDC bits are studied, and the jet flow velocity and pressure gradient of the bottom hole, nozzle and blade surface are numerically analyzed. The results show that the optimized PDC bits can efficiently break the rock through the three inclined holes close to the center of the bit. At the same time, it improves the uneven distribution of hydraulic energy of the traditional PDC bits. It can better increase the bottom hole velocity and increase the high-speed overflow, reduce the accumulation of bottom hole debris, raise the fluid up-and-back area, enhance the fluid's rock-carrying capacity, reduce the possibility of vortices and mud packs, and have a significant bit cleaning effect.
