Investigating phonon dynamics across the magnetic transition in multiferroic YCrO₃

We investigated phonon dynamics of multiferroic YCrO
3
using infrared (IR) spectroscopy, supported by first-principles simulations across the antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition temperature ($T _{N}$) ~ 138 K. Magnetic field and temperature-dependent measurements of phonon energies ($\omega$) and linewidth ($\Gamma$) across $T _{{N}}$ allow us to narrow down the anomalous T dependence due to magnetoelastic coupling and exclude magnon-phonon coupling and magnetostriction effects as governing mechanisms.
