Automotive Interconnect PAM4 Behavioral Modelling using SymbaPy Framework

Long-reach PHY are critical for connected and self driven automotive requirements. This paper presents a method to build a behavioral model to understand the margin for PHY using an open source platform SymbaPy. The PAM4 signaling is used in this implementation to support data rates upto 16Gbps in coaxial cables and SPD cables which can cause upto 26dB insertion loss for 15 meters distance. The model is used to derive target design specification for various blocks is SerDes. The model is also used to predict the eye margin at different points in the signal path.
