Using View Frustum Structure for Beam Tracing Acceleration

Beam tracing (BT) method has been widely used in indoor and low-altitude radio propagation simulations. The most time-consuming process in BT is to find the intersected KD-tree nodes for beams. In this paper, the view frustum culling (VFC) method is introduced for accelerating the intersecting process. The simple and robust strategy for intersection judgment in VFC ensures 2x speedup over the original BT. Simulation results compared with the measured data validates the efficiency of the proposed method.
