Plasmonic Boundary Condition Optimization applied to Nanoscale IR Antenna Structure Simulations

We explore the use of best fit impedance boundary conditions (IBCs) for use in electromagnetic structure simulators in realms where IBCs are not readily applicable. In particular, we apply the technique to the development of a on chip infrared antenna fabricated using a damascene process. The best fit IBC are synthesized by choosing the impedance values that best match the solution of a volumetric simulation on a small representative portion of the structure. These impedance values can then be applied to the entire structure to greatly reduce simulation time and facilitate design optimization.
