A Study on the Application of Modularization Theory to Chinese Typography Design

Under the background of the high development of digital information technology, the media is rapidly developing towards intelligence, sharing, and globalization. What follows is that the Chinese character as the significant carrier in the process of media information dissemination, its typography design methods and patterns should be innovated actively for complying with the development of the times. This research adopts the methods of case study and comparative analysis taking the design examples as cases and starting with each element and module in Chinese typography design to explore the new possibilities to combine Chinese typography design with the＂modular＂ system. It is suggested from the case study that the application of the “module” theory to Chinese typography design not only integrates the diverse features of contemporary Chinese typography but also is able to provide basic modules of Chinese character form for the calculation model of Chinese typography design under smart media.
