Autoguide: policy and practice in Great Britain

The creation of a national route guidance system, with London as the starting point, is discussed. The initial proposal was that there should be substantial pilot project involving around 300 roadside beacons on London's primary road network within and including the M25 orbital motorway, and around 1000 vehicles of various types. The Autoguide approach is described along with relevant legislation, guidelines, and the pilot scheme.<>
