Research on the Safety Boundary Evaluation Method of Scenarios for Automated vehicles

Currently, testing and evaluation methods for the automated vehicle are mainly conducted via simulations or closed facility tests, so the testing scenario is vital for the development and the deployment of the autonomous vehicle. This research focuses on the classification and the importance weights of scenario elements, and the safety boundary of the scenario space. Scenario elements mainly refer to static scenario elements, which can be divided into elements outside or inside the road. The importance weights of scenario elements are determined by Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and the effect transmission model. According to risk assessment parameters, Support Vector Machine (SVM) is used to solve the safety boundary of the scenario space. Test results show that the classification method and the importance weights of scenario elements are reasonable, and the safety boundary can distinguish dangerous driving states from safe ones.
