IoT Based Solar System Monitoring and Load Management for Small Farm

Power management can be crucial part of any business, let alone on any small-scale business. Whatever the scale is, a full-time governance is required for maintenance purpose. But now-a-days, with advancement of modern technologies, it’s possible to supervise a firm in addition to full-time caretaker. Using the Internet of Things (IoT) can greatly enhance the performance, monitor and do the maintenance of the farm to reduce traditional human intervention. This paper represents the application of IOT in small scale business (poultry-farm) monitoring the renewable solar energy and controlling the power consumption associated with grid and renewable energy source. The data of power production and consumption will be monitored by using IoT based voltage and current sensor which will be recorded in real time. All information is available through the Sinric pro cloud server and displayed on mobile devices and by analyzing, user will be able to manage the load. Also, arrangement will be made via relay according to the situation. For this research, PV cell, solar charge controller, battery, inverter, Auto transfer switch (ATS), voltage and current sensor, NodeMCU 12E, relay module and Sinric pro app were used. The result shows that the use of IoT with voltage and current sensors improves the smart farm model as an alternative and green energy source. This will facilitate real-time monitoring in addition to historical farm analysis.
