Analysis and Design of Non-Isolated Tapped-Coupled-Inductor DC-DC Boost Converter

This paper presents a non-isolated dc-dc converter based on a tapped-coupled-inductor boost converter (TCIBC). TCIBC has a tapped-coupled-inductor configuration to achieve higher voltage gain. TCIBC provides higher conversion ratio with diminish peak voltage across the switch than a conventional boost converter. The circuit operation of TCIBC is analyzed through different modes. A detailed mathematical analysis of TCIBC for each mode of operation is presented, along with the small-signal analysis. A performance evaluation with other existing converters is given. The designed circuit of TCIBC synchronize the dc-link voltage by implementing a dual-loop control strategy based on a PI controller. The operation of TCIBC is examined under load interruption and sudden shift in the supply voltage. The doability of TCIBC is examined by Matlab simulink results.
