Optimum Power Allocation for Power Efficient NOMA

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is an emerging communication technique that helps to satisfy the demands of 5G standard. Power domain NOMA linearly superposes the signals of participating users in the power domain to serve them under single transmission. The power allocation among users plays an essential role in improving the performance of the system. In this work, we derived an optimal power allocation factor to maximize power efficiency of two user NOMA system. The analytical results demonstrate that the proposed power allocation achieves better power efficiency compared to competitive schemes in the literature.
