Silver Halide Fiber Bundles for Diagnostic Medicine

The paper is devoted to the development and research of optical fibers based on the AgBr-AgI system's crystals, as well as the design of fiber bundles. Optical products are designed to develop a new generation of medical equipment. Received IR fibers for transmission of radiation in the range of 3–25
$\boldsymbol{\mu\mathrm{m}}$
. Fiber optical losses amounted to 0.46 dB/m, which makes it possible to produce long fibers and bundles based on them. The fibers have high photo- and radiation resistance, which makes it possible to sterilize them with radiation. Fibers for the THz range have been developed, which opens the possibility of using fibers in terahertz diagnostic equipment. Fiber bundles based on IR and THz fibers for spectral thermography, diagnostic medicine, and laser surgery have been modeled. Fiber bundles showed a high quality of radiation distribution over their cross section, which is important for practical applications in various fields of science and technology.
