Multiband Balanced CRLH-TL Microstrip Patch Antenna For Ultrawide Band Applications

Recently, left-handed structures have been called metamaterials. Left-handed materials have negative permittivity and permeability, whereas right-handed materials do not. A Composite Right/Left-Handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) structure is used to verify LH properties. This paper investigates CRLH TL using commercial software. Simulation results agreed with theory. The resonance frequency of a balanced CRLH-TL antenna is independent of its length. This enables compact antennas. The proposed microstrip patch antenna is introduced, analyzed, implemented, and examined at band of frequencies. The antenna is built methodically. The balanced CRLH-TL patch antenna’s radiation characteristics show its performance. Final design structures were fabricated and measured using the antenna lab’s network analyzer. Measured and simulated results present excellent performance for ultrawide band applications.
