A Circular Microstrip Antenna for K Band Applications

In this article an antenna with circular patch and defective ground plane is presented. The defective ground is achieved through a rectangular slot. This structure has realized frequencies of 19.9GHz and 30GHz having bandwidth 2.44GHz and 5.40GHz respectively for K band applications. The patch of 7.5mm radius is well suited for miniaturised devices. Substrate of dimension 7.5mm x 4mm is used. A slot of size 0.5mm x 1mm is etched on the ground plane. This design has achieved a gain of 4.65dB and 6.1dB at 19.9 GHz and 30GHz frequencies respectively. The size of antenna is 7.5mm x 4mm x 1.6mm.
