Load Frequency Control of Multi-Area Power System using Sine-Cosine Algorithm (SCA)

Load Frequency Control (LFC) is the key to the proper functioning of the power system. Thus, it has been and persists to be an important area of research and would continue to be so with the ever-growing needs and complexity of the power system. Numerous techniques have been developed and proposed to achieve load frequency control. This paper discusses one of the most efficient methods known for the optimization of the LFC problem, i.e the Sine-Cosine Algorithm (SCA). The algorithm discussed is applicable to both single as well as multi-area systems. The results are analysed given the effectiveness to achieve LFC and the robustness of the system.
