Design and Analysis of Dipole Ultra Wide Band Antenna for Wireless Applications

This research work, design and analysis of dipole Ultra-Wideband (UWB) antenna for wireless applications is proposed and investigated. To enhance the impedance patch better, the antenna was built with a double circular patch dipole with a compact size linear tapered balun at the antenna feed. The suggested antenna is engraved on a FR4 printed circuit board (PCB) with a physical dimension of (38461.6mm3), a relative permittivity of 4.3, and a loss tangent of 0.018. A parametric study of the circular radiating element was introduced to improve and transition from a conventional narrow band to a broader band as well as for antenna size reduction. Results showed that the antenna functions entirely on UWB band (4.2 to 6.6 GHz). The standing wave ratio is less than 2 (SWR<2) along of operation bandwidth. The antenna exhibited omnidirectional radiation patterns and also had a gain suitable for UWB applications. CST Microwave Studio has been used to successfully simulate the proposed antenna. The outcomes of the simulation and measurement are in good accord, confirming the design concept.
