Cost efficient spectrum monitoring platform for advanced management and optimization of wireless systems

Radiofrequency spectrum monitoring is a relevant issue for service providers and agencies in charge of the management and supervision of this resource. A system of this kind, could provide the infrastructure needed to support the implementation of advanced wireless management technics in systems like TVWS or the, now in development, Broadcast Core Network (BCN), for new generation DTV systems. However, despite its advantages, acquiring and implementing such a system may constitute a considerable economic burden for countries with weak economies where, additionally, many broadcast and wireless services are conceived as social services. In this paper, it is presented a radiofrequency spectrum monitoring system under development, its conception, main technical characteristics and current status. The system proposal is intended to be modular, standards-compliant, flexible and cost-effective. The proposal focuses on the obtention of a tailored system with only the bare minimum required features, guaranteed technical support and backed with the own know-how to quickly modify and implement new custom functionalities on demand.
