An Analysis and Implementation of Early Warning System for Accidents Caused by Fire, Toxic Gases and Roof Fall in Coal Mines

This study examines the number of accidents associated with coal mines caused by fire, gas leakage, roof falls and proposes a viable solution to reduce the number of deaths and generate an alerting system to prevent these disasters. Coal mine injuries, which are generally caused by fire, gas outbursts, as well as sudden roof falls owing to enlarged cracks in walls, have continued to endanger workers’ lives in recent years. The absence of efficient technology is one of the major reasons for the delayed rescue operations. This paper proposes the use of a wireless robot equipped with sensors that analyse the mine and uses the data collected to work as an early disaster detection system as well as work as a rescue bot when it is not possible to send the rescue team inside the mine due to unfavourable conditions.
