Bimodal Stress Tracking via Voice and Heart Rate

Stress remains a concern for the majority of the planet’s population. Its adverse effects are widely studied, well-documented, and universally experienced. There has been a significant increase in academic interest towards stress and health tracking through more mobile means, given the proliferation of mobile devices and their applications, specifically through wearable means. This burst of interest has generated many different approaches, multimodal stress analysis amongst the many ones. However, not all avenues of tracking stress have been adequately explored.In this paper, the team outlines the framework for an application that uses a hitherto unseen approach to tracking personal stress levels: a bimodal approach considering biometric physiological indicators via wearable photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors, as well as audio data including elements of voice tonality indicators such as pitch and loudness on phone calls to evaluate stress levels of subjects
