Card Skimming: A Cybercrime by Hackers

It is unfortunate that going to a gas station or automated teller machine nowadays is an experience that makes someone feel suspicious about the machine they are using for monetary transactions. If us do not feel this way, then us may not know about card skimming. Card skimming compromises a terminal that would take a credit card’s information and seamlessly give that information to a hacker for anyone that uses the machine. This paper will dive into how black hat hackers compromise these machines, how the magnetic strips on credit cards are decrypted so easily, and how this breach in security is being solved currently and over time.
