Solar Fed Boost Inverter with Closed Loop Proportional Resonant Controller for Grid Application

Conventional full-bridge inverter, DC-DC boost converter following DC-AC full-bridge voltage source inverter or grid tied inverters can be retreated with a Single Stage Boost Inverter (SSBI). SSBI can generate greater or lower voltage than the DC input voltage. It contains two boost converters as a complementary function to each other. There have been some control techniques proposed for it, although they are largely for voltage regulation and supplying a standalone load, rather than grid-current management. Since the boost inverter has a nonlinear correlation of voltage gain with the duty ratio, control parameter bandwidth required for input and output state would make model incongruent for control design. To overcome the nonlinearity of the SSBI Proportional Resonant (PR) based Current controller is designed. Conventional Proportional Integral (PI) controller analysis is compared with the proposed PR controller. MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation achieved with very high reliable performance by the proposed control strategy that could not cope with PI controller.
