Development of a General Method for Evaluating the Effectiveness of Primary Coding

The work of the famous scientist Claude Shannon showed that the maximum minimum speed of coding a source using a sequence of binary symbols is equal to the entropy of the source. However, estimating the value of entropy for different signals is an independent task. Thus, in the early works of the first author, limit estimates for the conversion of a binary continuous-discrete signal into a digital one were obtained. The theoretical results of the above study have found application in practice in the design of devices and systems for transmitting such signals. In particular, a method for calculating the marginal efficiency of such transformations was proposed, and calculations for some examples were given, the marginal efficiency was found, and the increase in the efficiency of the transformation with increasing block length was considered. The result obtained in the article allows to estimate the ultimate efficiency of any signals from the source in digital binary sequence.
