Application of UAV-Assisted 5G Communication: A Case Study of the Nigerian Environment

Given the numerous advantages and potentials of UAV-Assisted 5G communication in different areas of society, this paper presents UAV as a tool for tackling peculiar societal challenges in Nigeria. Use cases in health and security management were discussed. A simulation-based experiment using Ray Tracing was carried out to preview the propagation channel characteristics within a chosen geographical location in Nigeria. Results obtained reveal that the received signal strength compares favourably with the two-ray propagation model and shows minimal scattering.
