The interrelationship between Lean Manufacturing and Internet of Things: a bibliometric analysis

The Internet of Things (IoT) represents a connectivity approach of devices and sensors to the network allowing the capture and emission of information. Such approach has increased its interest in a great variety of applications. On the other hand, Lean Manufacturing (LM) stands for an organizational model that provides value to processes that eliminate waste, facilitate a lean transformation, adaptable to the demands of the environment and customers. This study presents a bibliometric analysis dealing with the interrelation between LM and IoT that includes a dataset retrieved from the most relevant databases, Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus, from 2010 until 2021. Based on this analysis, the countries that showed the highest scientific production, emphasizing the increasing trend in the applications made in these fields of knowledge were identified, as well as the most common keywords, finding that business, decision making, and management are gaining popularity due to the applications emerging in these areas in the last years.
