Research on the selection of anti-galloping interphase spacers

Transmission line galloping is an important issue that threatens the safe operation of the power grid. In the past decade, several line galloping events have occurred in Shandong power grid in 2011, 2016 and 2019, respectively. In this paper, for typical transmission line ice damage events on 220 kV and 500 kV transmission lines in Shandong power grid, comprehensive environmental meteorological information analysis, fault recording and field research are conducted to analyze the causes of transmission line galloping occurrence and give the impact of wind excitation, wire over-icing, line structure and other parameters on typical line galloping. Combined with the actual line galloping management measures and operational performance, the advantages and disadvantages of different types of anti-galloping interphase spacers are given, and the selection recommendations related to anti-galloping interphase spacers are summarized.
