Radio over Fiber (RoF) Techniques: A Survey

Increasing demands rapidly on the internet and its services in rural areas encourage us to investigate and find new technologies and approaches to implement the last mile communication systems, this is an important issue that faces the upgrading current optical infrastructure by adopting the radio over Fiber (RoF) as an pretty solution for this policy. The access to the bandwidth of the channel, control of traffics, no need for more work for maintenance, and low attenuation are the advantages of the RoF systems, on the other hand, the expensive costs of its conversion devices are pointed as disadvantages of it.
