Testing and Evaluation of Autonomous Vehicles Based on Safety of the Intended Functionality

Testing and evaluation are essential for the development and deployment of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs). In this paper, a testing and evaluation procedure for AVs is proposed, which is deliberately designed based on Safety of the Intended Functionality (SOTIF). This procedure combines the benefits of both simulation tests and on-road tests. The goal is to present a testing and evaluation procedure that takes the minimum effort while produces results with sufficient confidence.
